Angus Buchan listened to the word of the Lord some years ago while visiting the Kruger Park. He was told to cancel all his appointments and “Mentor to men” In his own words taken from one of his devotions books “A Mustard Seed” published in 2014, he says “We had our first men’s conference and saw 240 men arrive. The next year 600 arrived. The following year there were 1060. This year we had 7 400 men and we are expecting 23 000 men next year. That’s one huge army of God.” Little did he know God’s plans for 2017.
Many of us have experienced the loss our our spouse and for some the opportunity to remarry and have a second very special relationship is a great joy. Such an event is to happen later this year for Bishop Martin, who has met and fallen in love with a very special person. Her name is Colleen Thomas and comes from Cape Town.
It is amazing how so much can be accomplished by so few! The community has certainly put Haenertsburg on the map and our members have proudly done the same for St. Paul’s.
Our initial holiday was a trip down to Knysna to the Old Car Show, spend the week there, and watch the Simola Hill Climb on the Friday and Saturday of the following weekend and then return home. Ed needed a scan done on Thursday the 20th of April and with Angus Buchan having his “It’s Time” in Bloemfontein on the 22nd it was decided to make it one trip.
For more than 10 years, St Paul’s have contributed funds on a monthly basis to Thusanang Trust who use these funds to buy food items for distribution to some of the neediest of the needy in the rural districts of Maribe Thema, Segwashi, Spitzkop and Appel School. Additional contributions are also received from members of the St Paul’s congregation, St Vincent de Paul and the Rotary Anne Club of Pietersburg 100.
When Les asked us to write a short article on the Church garden, it was easy to say “yes of course”, that is until we came to actually put pen to paper. Our minds went blank… not an unusual occurrence! However yesterday evening, when reading The Upper Room, I realised there is a message from the Lord in all we do. The Church gardens have been beautifully and practically laid out by Sally and Jay.
Have you ever mixed, baked, carried, rolled or sold pancakes in your sleep? If not, you haven’t been part of the St Pauls team at the Haenertsburg Food wine and beer festival! Over 3500 pancakes later, it is no wonder that some of us were seeing pancakes in our dreams – or even just as we closed our eyes.
Every Wednesday there is music practice with Debbie in the church at 16h00 for an hour – do come and join in with an uplifting time of singing praises to our Lord – all are welcome!
Please feel free to join us in prayer in the room next to the Sunday School room at 08h45 every Sunday morning before the service.
